On the Viewer - Fringe (Season 2, Episode 10 - "Grey Matters")
 by Fëanor

Just so you know, SPOILER ALERT!

Nice of the villain to apologize for leaving a dude's head open after pulling something out of his brain.

Man, why they gotta bring Walter to another mental institution? Poor guy.

Wow, the villains actually cured the guy of his insanity. That's new.

When they find out the guy whose head was frozen did the break-in and the surgery, all Walter says is, "Wow."

Olivia: "William Bell told me the man with that marking would try to open a corridor from our universe to the other side. I managed to infer that the results would be less than desirable."

Walter is pretty much spot-on right with his first guess every episode, every time. Which I guess is kind of lame, but I'm totally okay with it. Walter is just that awesome. Also awesome? He has a mug with a handle shaped like a kangaroo.

Aww yeah, people. We just changed setting to Dunwich Mental Hospital. I'm hoping some serious Lovecraftian sh*t is about to go down.

Olivia: "Do you mind if we take a look at your head?" Heh.

I'm amused that one of the crazy people with things stuck in their brains is named Stuart Gordon. Is that the writer/director of Re-Animator Stuart Gordon? I'm further amused that the character's insanity manifested itself with him thinking he was the actor Sydney Greenstreet and walking around quoting Casablanca. That's a pretty cool way to be crazy.

Walter: "The human brain! Well, half of one."

I thought Walter might have a connection to this case, but it was still pretty mind-blowing when it was revealed that the mysterious Dr. Parris had visited him as well, and that he also had a scar on his head.

Walter: "I don't do Valium nearly enough; that's a good idea. I'll have 50mg, please."

It was Walter's brain tissue they were putting in other people's brains! The bits of his brain containing his memories of how to open a door between universes! And now they have to put it back to get the information from him. And Astrid just left him alone! Great sequence.

Didn't take long for Walter's transponder to come in handy!

Oh. Well, it almost came in handy. Damn.

It's really powerful how so many of the images they're showing Walter make him think of Peter - even the coffin.

Newton (frozen head guy) is really very polite. Maybe he's good after all? It's so hard to tell! Which is something I really like about this show, actually.

Ooh, all the crazy people's obsessions fit together to tell a story about Walter's memories. That's so cool.

There's something called "The Blight" that's killing plant life on the other side. Hmm...

Walter sounds kind of nasty for the brief couple of minutes he has his brain put back together.

Holy crap. Olivia is a damn good shot. She killed Newton's buddies and had him caught - but then she had to let him go.

Walter: "Peter, I have a terrible headache. And a sudden craving for chicken wings."

Broyles sets Olivia straight: "There's only one Walter Bishop. And we're going to be needing him before this is over."

Big final revelation: Dr. Parris = William Bell. He decided the knowledge of how to open the inter-dimensional doorway was too dangerous to stay in Walter's head, so he had it taken out and hidden, he thought in a place only he could find. But he was wrong.

WOW. Another excellent episode of Fringe. Moving character development, and exciting advancement of the overarching storyline. Thumbs up!
