  • While I understand why they want to do it, it really kind of tees me off that they're thinking of changing the villain in Casino Royale from a Russian to a rich Islamic fundamentalist who funds terrorists. I mean, that's just so lame. Do we really need this sensationalist, ripped-from-the-headlines crap? Why can't Bond just fight the Russians like he used to?

  • I was a little disappointed by Shrek 2, but I liked Shrek, so I'm mildly curious to see where this series is going, and the news that Shrek 3 is going to involve King Arthur and the Arthurian legends is pretty exciting. Besides the fact that I love the myths about Arthur, they're just a really rich source of material and could make for a great movie. The news that the movie may also involve a little baby Shrek is less welcome, but we'll see what comes.

  • Dudes. Attend: MEGA MAN ROCK OPERA. And it is AWESOME. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a CD you can buy yet, and not all tracks are available online, but three can be downloaded here, and you can listen to two more at the band's MySpace page. That band is called The Protomen, btw. And they rock. My favorite track is definitely "The Stand (Man or Machine)." Also, the fact that they included a midi version of Phil Collins's "Against All Odds" at the end of "Due Vendetta" was a stroke of genius.

  • Pixar's next movie, Cars, has looked crappy to me from the start, and the new teaser (via The Movie Blog) hasn't changed my opinion all that much. I mean, it's cars talking, and making stupid jokes. How can this be good? Still, the animation is really impressive, and the previous times that I've doubted Pixar (Finding Nemo, for one), I've been wrong. Maybe there's more to this one than they've shown us yet...

  • I've been seriously thinking about coding and selling my own games for a while now (it's one of the main reasons I made this website in the first place, actually), so this article on how to create your own game company from Download Squad (via Joystiq) is pretty interesting to me. I'll have to keep an eye out for part two.

My issues are figuring out how to work with graphics (preferably 3D), and coming up with a good idea for a game in the first place. They definitely offer lots of ways to deal with the former issue, but very few on the latter issue. Ah, well. Better get thinking.

  • Okay, I'm not a huge fan of the FPS and RTS games you'd probably use it with most, and as Joystiq points out, this one-handed game controller and keypad probably isn't as great as the company tries to make it sound. But still, look at that thing! It's cool!

  • It will take a long time to download, and he messes up at least once, but this Quicktime video of a dude playing the Super Mario Bros. theme on a huge 11-string bass (via Joystiq) is still mighty impressive. As Joystiq points out, the coin sounds at the end are a great touch.
