I hear the last Harry Potter movie is out. Neat. In celebration of this, I give you: a couple of fun pieces of Harry Potter art; a great interview with the actor who plays Neville (his name is Matthew Lewis); an amusing photograph; and a fun cosplay idea from Super Punch for your next Harry Potter event: dress up as a wizard trying to dress up as a muggle.

Cool gallery of pics from Cowboys & Aliens (am I crazy, or didn't this movie used to be called Cowboys vs. Aliens??) Sadly no shots from the rumored Olivia Wilde nude scene are included.

Here are a couple of trailers I've posted multiple times to Twitter, and am posting again here (what? I like them!): The Thing and John Carter. Both a lot better-looking than I expected.

Black and WTF has had a lot of amazing posts lately. Witness Kitten in Spaghetti, children posing with a giant cat, a girl in a gas mask staring at a hooded falcon, and kids reading the first wireless newspaper.

The last two Let's Be Friends Again were pretty fantastic.

Usually in video games you go for the high score, but beating Super Mario Bros. with a score of only 600 points is pretty impressive.

Here's a handy list of all the sci-fi TV series premiering this fall, and the dates they air.

David "Dark Knight" Goyer will write the screenplay for Legendary Pictures' upcoming reboot of Godzilla. Woah. Could we actually get a well-written Godzilla film? The mind boggles.

Video demonstrations of a couple of neat-looking video games developed by a fellow named Arthur Nishimoto. Both are multi-player games played on a giant touch-screen. Star Wars Fleet Commander is a real-time strategy game that simulates giant space battles and TRON: Game Grid recreates the Ring Game from the movie.

The canvas wasn't big enough to hold this painting.

Yet another photo of dwarves from The Hobbit. This time it's Balin and Dwalin. I have to admit, some of the makeup here looks a bit goofy, but maybe it'll work better on screen.

I just wanted to mention that for some reason I really enjoy Business Cat.

I already posted this to Twitter, but it fascinated me so much I figured I'd post it here, too: 10 sci-fi icons and the obscure characters who share their names. I was particularly flabbergasted by the Italian movie entitled Terminator II, which is actually a ripoff of Aliens.

Comic Twart is a blog where a bunch of artists get together semi-regularly and all do their own interpretations of a specific character. I came across it a while back, but for some reason never put it on my RSS reader. After finding that they'd recently covered Jonny Quest and Batman, I corrected this mistake.

It was down for a while now, but it's back up again, at least for the next day or so: stream the new album from The National (via). You can also listen to a fantastic new track from The Dead Weather (via).

io9 gives us 25 reasons to get excited about comics this spring by previewing 25 of the most promising upcoming series. I agree with them on S.H.I.E.L.D., Jason Aaron's Astonishing Spider-Man/Wolverine (I hadn't even heard about that before), Grant Morrison's The Return of Bruce Wayne, Patton Oswalt's Serenity book, Buzzard, and of course anything having to do with Hellboy. I will most certainly have to try Brightest Day, a few of the new Avengers books, and The Flash, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for them. The rest don't interest me.

Another new Adam WarRock track, this one dealing (at least tangentially) with Flash Gordon.

I follow Stan Lee on Twitter, but somehow missed these tweets of his that io9 highlighted, wherein he gives a plug to the upcoming Ant-Man movie (directed by Edgar Wright), as well as supposed future Marvel films about Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther.

In South Korea, robots star in plays! (Via)

Tom Cruise is coming back for Mission Impossible 4, but it sounds like J.J. Abrams will probably not be back as director. However, writing duo Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec of Alias fame are involved.

Steven Soderbergh's next movie will be an ensemble action-thriller called Contagion. The idea is that it would be a cross between the Bourne movies (in fact, the script was written by the co-writer of The Bourne Ultimatum) and Traffic, and it'd involve interweaving stories set on four continents during the outbreak of a deadly virus. The cast includes Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Marion Cotillard. Sounds vaguely interesting, except that Traffic was really pretty dumb.
