Ron Moore was only the show-runner for Caprica for the first few episodes, and handed over day-to-day control to Jane Espenson (who herself dropped out of the position in order to write more, so they brought in another guy whose name escapes me). But The Name of the Wind is ludicrously overrated; the writer spends the first three quarters of the book making a bunch of promises and the last quarter proving himself unable to keep them. I'm really baffled by people who like it.

I love the contrast between Harry and Neville, and don't think it's at all coincidence, in light of the prophecy, that in a concrete way it is Neville who actually allows Voldemort to be truly defeated in the end.

Setting up Snape to kill Dumbledore becomes fully clear at the very end, but I actually never had a problem with it. I think when I was originally reading them, I also gave up after 6 or 7. My major complaint with the last book I read was that even with a length of some 1,000 pages it had managed to not move the main plot forward whatsoever.
