Yes, we did try Vonage. We were a little disappointed with the quality and reliability, and with the fact that it would just crap out when the power went out. But if Verizon isn't like that, it's all good.

Tim: Wow! Thanks very much for all the information! I'm a little disappointed about the VoIP thing, as poppy and I had that for a while and didn't care for it. But I think I'm probably going to call up today or tomorrow and schedule our installation. I've complained about Comcast long enough. (And in fact, I have another new complaint about Comcast: for the past few days our internet has been down intermittently.) the big minus for me is giving any more money to verizon, whom i hate with a glowing passion. they have severely under-staffed their repair department and, as you have heard me say before, absolutely suck at providing service if something ever goes wrong. they've sunk a lot of money into fios though so they might be more prompt in dealing with fios issues than in old-fashioned landlines.]]> Wednesday, August 6, 2008 09:33 PM Wednesday, August 6, 2008 10:31 PM
