This web application I have to use at work logs me out if I don't use it for a while, but to make things more fun, it does it kind of subtly, in the background. So I'll try to go and use it thinking I'm still logged in, and it'll break. But it doesn't just break - it pops up three different error dialogs in a row, just in case I might have not understood that it's broken.

This reminds me of Office Space:

Why would anyone pay extra to see it again in one more dimension than before? Then again, it's Star Wars. Star Wars has a certain cache. And nerds are famous for paying for things so they can then complain about them endlessly. Plus, there's the kid factor. Kids don't know they're supposed to hate The Phantom Menace. Well, looks like the nerd and kid factors won out, because the 3D version made $73.4 million in less than two weeks and pushed the movie's overall box office total over the billion dollar mark to make it the 11th highest grossing film of all time. Wow.


• Speaking of Star Wars, here are some rejected Star Wars products. Also, in the upcoming Star Wars game for Kinect, there will be a Slave Leia dance-off.

• I have two words to say in response to the new Iron Man 2 trailer, above: "HELL" and "YEAH" (via). So awesome. I'm so stoked for this movie. In other Iron Man 2 news, io9 is reporting a rumor that Olivia Munn's role in the movie might be larger than at first assumed - she might actually be playing the Scarlet Witch herself. She doesn't show up in the trailer at all, so who knows?


• The entries on Back and WTF are always weird, but this one is particularly odd and intriguing.


• Huzzah! There will indeed be a third season of Fringe.


• Rachel Nichols has joined the cast of Conan. She'll be playing what sounds like a Red Sonja-type character.

• I'm thinking a lot more people would use the Microsoft error-reporting dialog if it worked like it does in this video. Although seeing as how I'm a developer myself, the idea of people being punished by remote users for every bug they write into a piece of code is as terrifying as it is amusing. (Via Howard)


• Apparently Frank Miller is on Twitter and tweeted enigmatically the other day that something called "DINOSAUR" is coming this week. I've mostly lost faith in Mr. Miller, but I have to admit this has me a bit intrigued.


• Seven new clips from Wolfman. Some pretty big spoilers here - you see the creature and everything - so maybe don't watch these if you want to stay pure for the movie. For my own part, having watched these clips, I'm not as excited for the movie anymore. It doesn't really look that great. Corny dialog and not very impressive performances; apparently Anthony Hopkins just set himself to auto-creep mode.


• Let's Be Friends Again is not always funny, but this one is pretty good.


• Samuel L. Jackson is creating his own comic called Cold Space, a four-issue sci-fi/action miniseries for Boom! Studios. It's about "an opportunist who crash lands on a planet in the midst of a civil war, discovering a way to play both factions against each other for his own personal gain." Celebrity forays into comics are not often good, but this sounds like fun.


• It seems like you can never have enough USB ports! But maybe you can now with this 80-port USB panel.


• Here's a machine that turns extra office paper into toilet paper. Okay then.

• Fox is going to run all 13 episodes of this season of Dollhouse, but due to the continued poor ratings, the likelihood of a third season is low. Thus Joss promises to give us some closure in that 13th episode, while still leaving some of his options open, just in case. Sigh.


• A short interview with the writer of Alex Proyas' adaptation of the sci-fi book series Tripods.
