• The Branch Holder makes any stick more sword-like. Awesome!

• They're going to make a horror movie about an evil Paul Bunyan called... Bunyan. It will star Joe Estevez of Werewolf fame (yes, the MST3K movie), and it will come out next year. Amazing.


• io9 has collected the early reviews for Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. Some are criticizing the movie for its backward ways, but others are praising it. Hmm...


• Terry Gilliam might convert Time Bandits to 3D. He wouldn't be changing anything in the film, just putting it in 3D. I'd watch that!


• Apparently Sam Prekop of The Sea and Cake has a new album! I was excited about this, until I read the Onion A.V. Club's review, and found out it's basically just a lot of random noise. Not sure I really need to hear that.


• The Onion A.V. Club also has an interesting review of Metroid: Other M. The fact that it's sort of on rails is actually attractive to me, as I don't really have time for a game that makes me do a lot of wandering and exploring, but a lot of the other things they mention here don't sound very fun. Still, I'm intrigued. I mean, it's Metroid!


• Apparently they really are going to make a Doctor Strange movie and Stan Lee is going to have a cameo in it. Cool!


• The new (3D, natch) Judge Dredd film will be called simply Dredd and will star Karl Urban as the title character and Olivia Thirlby as his psychic partner.


• Ridley Scott has a few fascinating details about his Alien prequel. Also, Gemma Arterton may star.


• Dude built an impressive working replica of the motorcycle in Excitebike.


• Pizza soda and bacon soda? I'd try 'em.


• Pretty great 8-bit track with appropriate 8-bit video accompaniment.


• A pic from Duncan Jones' Source Code! It's not particularly enlightening or thrilling, but it's a pic from the film, nonetheless.

• Good lord. They're going to remake the horrible MST3K Sasquatch film The Legend of Boggy Creek.


• Sounds like Bryan Singer directing X-Men: First Class isn't a done deal after all.


• Olivia Munn's original cameo in Iron Man 2 ended up being a bit too lighthearted for the film's dark tone, so they cut it out, made her an entirely different character, and shot all new scenes with her. Still no word on who she's playing, though.


• NBC just announced a new show called Camelot which will be a contemporary retelling of the King Arthur legend, written by Torchwood's former showrunner.


• Nintendo's making a DS that has 3D! And you don't need glasses to see it! How that works I don't know, but it sounds cool.


• Guile is guilty of vandalism, and there's video proof!


• Chainable USB plugs!

• Here's a trailer for Blue People: The Movie.

• The readers of Empire have picked the 50 worst movies ever, with Batman and Robin taking the top (bottom?) spot. The problem is, these people just haven't seen enough really bad movies. Sure, Batman and Robin is terrible, but it's actually terrible in a vaguely entertaining fashion. And hey, at least the effects are pretty decent and the lighting is good. I've seen plenty of movies where the filmmakers couldn't do anything right, from set design to editing to writing to costuming to what have you. I mean, just watch any episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and you'll see a movie at least 10 times worse than Batman and Robin. [UPDATE: Another movie obviously much worse than Batman and Robin, and which somehow only got to number 16 on this list, is Plan 9 From Outer Space. That thing's a disaster from start to finish!] (Via)

• That video up there is an utterly ridiculous, random, and stupid redub of some scenes from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The first time I watched it I thought it was just dumb. Then I ended up watching it again for some reason and it totally cracked me up. See how you feel about it. (Via)

• The time and stars are right for... Santa Cthulhu.


• DC is starting a new line of comics set on Earth One where they can retell and update the stories of their flagship characters. First up are Superman: Earth One by J. Michael Straczynski and Shane Davis, and Batman: Earth One by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. It seems like DC is retelling Superman's story every other week, and I've been really disappointed by pretty much every comic I've ever read by JMS. But Batman doesn't get the reboot nearly as often, and although I'm a bit tired of Geoff Johns at this point, I love Gary Frank, and he and Johns have done some amazing work together. So the Batman book at least could be worth a look.


• Peter Jackson confirms that the two Hobbit movies will both be based entirely on the book, and they won't be making up some kind of bridging film out of whole cloth. Whew. Also, rumor has it Tom Waits might get a role in one or both of the movies. I can't imagine who he'd play (maybe the Elven King??), but I love the idea.


• Hilarious video about the uncaring God that reigns over each game of Tetris.


• Positive review of Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Yay!


• Fun Star Wars links: amazing Star Wars LEGO photography, and plush Tusken Raider.
