Pods and Antipodes, Volume Four
 by Fëanor

  • A scan of some screenshots from the next Mario game for the DS. They're trying to trick me into getting one of those DS things again! But I'm going to stand firm, damn it. I need to save up for my Revolution and my PS3, anyway... (Via Digg)

  • Greatest Something Awful contest ever? You be the judge: Star Wars Valentines. I'd pick my favorites, but really, I love them all. So cheesy...so geeky...so right!

(Well, okay this one's especially fantastic.) (Via Backwards City)

  • Presented for your consideration: two "trailers" are now available on the web for Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction (starring Sharon Stone again as the extremely seductive, violent, and dangerous lady with the habit of sitting down in provocative ways). The first to appear was a supposedly unofficial, leaked version loaded with sex scenes (and thus, obviously unsafe for work), which you can find here. Sadly I haven't gotten the chance to watch that one yet. The second trailer to show up was the official one, which you can find here. Based on this trailer, I'd say the whole thing looks very corny, stupid, and predictable, although also intriguing in certain obvious ways. Anyways, enjoy, if you can. (Via The Movie Blog)

  • Make a "word cloud" of your blog, and then get the T-shirt! As one might expect, the words "movie," "film," and "digg" come up a lot on my blog. I'm kind of surprised "apparently" isn't bigger, as I seem to use that word once per bullet point, but it is up there. (Via Sarcasmo)

  • Heh. Mattel is going to launch a Superman "InflatoSuit" at this year's Toy Fair as part of their line of Superman Returns toys. A battery-operated fan pumps up the suit to make your kid look all muscular and buff. Hopefully there's not a special fan for the package area... (Via Cinematical)

  • Terry Gilliam's next movie (whatever happened to Tideland, anyway? Did I just completely miss the rise and fall of that one?) is going to be based on a Larry McMurtry novel about a newspaperman from Philly (woo! Philly!) who heads out West looking for adventure and ends up running into Billy the Kid. Sounds like it could be interesting, especially in Gilliam's hands. It's called Anything for Billy, btw.
