On the Viewer: Ocean's 13 |
by Fëanor |
It's pretty fair to say that if you've seen one of the Ocean's movies, you've seen them all. Each one is about Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, and the rest of the gang joking, bickering, lying their asses off, and generally being ridiculously slick and cool while pulling off a mind-blowingly elaborate, multi-layered heist, all in the most opulent surroundings, and filmed with such dazzling style that it nearly takes your breath away.
And, as far as I'm concerned, each one is also fantastic. So, if you liked the others, you'll also love Ocean's 13. This time the boys are in Vegas doing a revenge job on Willie Bank (Al Pacino) because he cheated their buddy Reuben (Elliott Gould) out of his rightful stake in Bank's new casino. They also, in what is probably the most hilarious and brilliant of the subplots, end up taking part in a labor dispute in Mexico. The women aren't in this one, although Rusty (Pitt) and Danny (Clooney) do talk about them, while bonding over memories of the old Vegas, and episodes of Oprah.
It's not a meaningful film. It won't change your life. But for two hours, it will make you laugh, delight your eyes with its beautiful visuals, and just generally entertain you a great deal. |
