Race Against Terrorism!
 by Fëanor

This is truly hilarious, in that bitter, ironic, empty kind of way. Those Texans. Wow. They breed them real smart over there, huh?

I imagine a defender of the program saying something like this: "But really, what could be more of a smack in the face of the terrorists than going on with our buying and travelling and lawn mower drag races, which are all clearly symbols of our freedom?! Kind of brings a tear to the eye, really..."

I'm warmly reassured by the last line of the article: "[The extension service] has begun requiring some grant recipients to report how they use equipment." What? They've just begun requiring that some grant recipients...?! Oh, that's great. Good to know lots of really competent people are in charge of our defense from the terrorists!

UPDATE: I found the article via Salon, btw.
