We Are Now in Hi-Def
 by Fëanor

Poppy and I had both been dreading trying to move our 250lb TV again, because we both remembered what a production it was getting it upstairs into our old condo, but thanks to the assistance of both our Dads, our friend Matt, and a hand truck, it really wasn't that bad at all. And, to our great joy and slight surprise, between the time we went to bed last night (around 10PM) and the time I got up this morning (at 5:30AM, as is my wont), someone had quietly taken the TV away. The garbage men never even got a look at it! Very nice.

After we hauled the old TV out to the curb, my Dad went with me to Best Buy to pick up an HDMI cable, and then we came back and set up the new TV. It's pretty sweet. ESPN HD, people! Awww, yeah. Sadly, some of the non-HD stuff, like the PS2, now looks pretty crappy. Anybody know anything we can do to fix that? I also have yet to be able to figure out how to turn subtitles on, so I can watch the TV while I'm on the treadmill in the morning and still know what the people are saying. And, even after trying every single code that exists, I was not able to get my Verizon universal remote to interact with the TV.

These are all minor annoyances, though. The point is, we have HD!

UPDATE: Oh, and I meant to mention, it's amazing how much more space there seems to be in the rec room now. The old TV just dominated the whole room. With the slim new HDTV sitting all the way back on the TV stand, it's like the room just got twice as big.
