Pink-Haired Meme
 by Fëanor

A note: I just typed out this whole thing, then closed the window by mistake. I was really pissed and thought I'd have to write it all up again, when I thought of Google Desktop. And just as I'd hoped, the page was chached and stored and I found it quickly using a Desktop search. God bless Google!

A music meme via Life in the Pink:

1. Total amount of music files on your computer?
1682

2. The last CD you bought
Transatlanticism by Death Cab For Cutie. I haven't listened to it much yet, but it seems pretty cool. I bought it because I heard they sounded like another band that I like.

3. The last song you listened to before reading this
Well, I read this first thing this morning, so I've got to go back to yesterday. Probably "Territorial Pissings" by Nirvana, off of Nevermind.

4. Name 5 songs you listen to often or that mean a lot to you
That's fricking hard! Sigh. Let's see what I can pull together here.
  1. "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails - I was just listening to this one and thinking about how fantastic a song it is, so it makes the list. It's just got a really raw, powerful sound coupled with really raw, powerful vocals and lyrics. Plus, it ends up actually being hopeful, which I like.

  2. "That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate" by Mission of Burma - Mission of Burma is one of the rockingest bands ever, and this is one of their rockingest songs. I love angry, defiant songs, and that is Mission of Burma's genre.

  3. "Leash" by Pearl Jam - Speaking of angry, defiant songs: this is the one. He says "fuck" a lot in it. It rocks. Drop the leash!

  4. "Hey Joni" by Sonic Youth - Sonic Youth are gods of music, and this is off of one of their greatest discs: Daydream Nation. Really, I could have picked practically any track off of there, but I chose this one.

  5. "The Union Forever" by The White Stripes - This is the only song I can think of that is basically a pastiche of Citizen Kane references. And if that weren't cool enough, it also completely rocks. The White Stripes are pretty uneven; when they suck, they really suck. But when they rock, they rock hard. This is one of those times.
5. Who will you pass this stick to (3 people) and why?
I'd like to see poppy do this one, because I'm curious. I'd also love to hear Steak Knife's thoughts, because he's a music freak with very interesting tastes. And then, how about kheara? I just discovered she has a livejournal, and she has interesting tastes, too.
