On the Viewer - Fringe (Season 3, Episode 13 - "Immortality")
 by Fëanor

Spoilers ahoy!

Ooh, we're back on the Other Side!

Frank: "You almost... didn't seem like yourself."
Ha! They just can't resist little jokes like that, can they?

Looks like Faux-livia's relationship with her boyfriend might be getting just as strained as Olivia's relationship with Peter!

Ugh! This episode's opening death scene might win for most disgusting opening death scene ever. Vomiting followed by explosion of roaches!

Heh. Definitely still loving the mockery/camaraderie between Lincoln and Alt-Charlie.

Am I understanding correctly? Do they not have roaches on the other side? Well, that decides it for me; let's blow up our universe and keep that one. Any universe without roaches is clearly superior.

Alt-Brandon realizes that Cortexiphan works better the younger you are, and suggests using children as subjects. Walternate flat out refuses. Very interesting. Our "good" Walter was willing to experiment on children with Cortexiphan, but this "evil" Walter is not. I like the moral ambiguity of that.

Faux-livia: "Bug girl's got a crush on Charlie!"
Charlie: "Bug girl has a crush on the fact that I got spiders in my blood, kiddo."
Faux-livia: "C'mon, everybody's looking for somebody who loves them for who they are inside."
Charlie: "Are you kidding me right now?"

Ah, sadly, I was probably wrong about the Other Side being free from cockroaches. Looks like these bugs are sheep parasites that should have died out with sheep years ago. (No sheep? Bummer.) Apparently some dude wants to bring them back and is using people to grow them in? Messed up.

Wow, it took about three seconds for Lincoln to ruin Frank's secret about proposing to Faux-livia. What a dick! Of course, given that he's still got a crush on Faux-livia, it makes sense that he'd ruin the surprise about someone else proposing to her. Interestingly enough, Faux-livia doesn't seem altogether happy with the news.

Weird detail: the latest guy to be eaten from the inside by bugs has a car with a license plate that reads "APT6B." Apartment 6B? Is that a clue of some kind? (Looking ahead, it appears the next episode is called "6B." Intriguing...)

Woah! Who's the pretty Asian lady in Walternate's bed??

Walternate: "There are lines I simply cannot cross."

What's with Frank horning in on Faux-livia's work and doing her job for her? Admittedly, he's being very helpful...

Faux-livia said yes to the proposal! I didn't expect that. I thought for sure she'd give him a "maybe" or a "no." Well, maybe she'll change her mind later. Or he'll get killed. All I know is, there's bound to be more drama around this!

Okay, that I did not expect! What a way to find out you're pregnant! Mistaking it for a killer beetle infestation! Of course, it's Peter's baby. Which provides that extra drama I was looking for.

Frank: "Are you in love with him? The father?"
Faux-livia: "..."
Frank: "That's all I needed to know."
Faux-livia: "Frank."
Frank: "You were going to marry me."

Ouch. That was brutal. This show isn't always perfect, but I really appreciate the way it makes us sympathize with both the "heroes" and the "villains."

Alt-Brandon: "I think I might have another way to bring Peter back from the other universe."
Of course you do! Every week they introduce a new way to travel between universes! Sigh. I mean, why is getting Peter back even an issue? Just send a shapeshifter to grab him or something. They travel between universes all the time! You can't convince me anymore that it's hard to do.

The Secretary shows up at Faux-livia's door as she's surveying the evidence of her boyfriend leaving her.
Walternate: "I hope this isn't a bad time."
Well, it's pretty much the worst time ever, but... c'mon in!

Walternate: "You are the mother of my future grandchild."
Ew. Why was that so creepy?

A fun, soap-opera-y episode. With bugs! And Peter's a father now! Good times.
