Gopher Guts and Birdy Feet
 by Fëanor

  • A post or so ago, I wrote about the horrifying rumor that the movie Joss Whedon is supposedly making about Spike might involve Illyria. Well, Whedon himself has come forward and pointed out that the film is still in the "idea" stage, and nothing is definite--including even its eventual existence. So hopefully before this thing comes together, if it ever does, he'll have time to rethink that whole Illyria thing and come to his senses.

  • I'll be damned if I can remember where I found the link to this, but the Onion AV Club has a great story about weird fan fiction--which sounds redundant, but this stuff is weird even amongst the weird. I was especially entertained by the overview of the works based on Krull, and I think Vis Major will be amused to discover that there exists at least one piece of Salton Sea fan fiction.

  • Speaking of Vis Major, it's thanks to that wonderful woman that I was able to witness the spectacle of He-Man (in the form of his Adam alter-ego) singing that one hit by 4 Non Blondes. Basically someone has taken animation from the original cartoon, carefully and precisely edited and augmented it, and laid down a new audio track, thus creating a fantastically hilarious music video with shockingly excellent lip-synching. Seriously, people, you need to watch this--and, as the page says, make sure to stick through to the very end to catch the last joke.

  • I should hope that you've already heard of, and seen some examples of, Angry Alien Productions' 30-second animated reenactments of movies, all starring exclusively bunnies (okay, there is the rare non-bunny creature/character, but it's always at least wearing bunny ears). I'd watched a number of these and enjoyed them all thoroughly, but hadn't been back to the site in a long time--until this morning, when Cinematical pointed me that way again, and I discovered there were at least four new movies I'd never seen before, including hilarious reenactments of Jaws, Freddy vs. Jason, and Highlander. Alien is another highlight, but you should watch them all, and make sure to click around on the final screen of each movie, as the bunnies often leave fun little Easter eggs there for you to find.

A couple of quick additions for you:

  • My review of the concert I saw last night has hit Phillyist; check it out. As usual, I got carried away and wrote too much. Believe it or not, this is a shortened version of my article.

  • Also, via kaitzi:
