Elephant Talk
 by Fëanor

  • My latest article is up on Phillyist; this one's about WXPN's countdown of the 885 All Time Greatest Albums that I've been blabbing about incessantly lately.

  • What is with our lawmakers? Why do they want to take our sex away from us? They claim it's for "the children" and "the family," but I (I almost said "we" there; I've been writing too many Phillyist articles lately) suspect it's really for those prudish conservative Christian voters, damn them all to hell!

  • The article title pretty much says it all: Arnold in Terminator 4? I was against Terminator 3, but then it actually turned out to be really good, so who knows, maybe this will work. And if it means Arnold will stop playing politician, I'm all for it.

  • Wired's Autopia column informs us that, in terms of fuel economy, our vehicles are actually getting worse, not better. This kind of fills me with rage. Why can't we get it together on this? This is not a little problem, people. This is about our continued existence on this planet. You'd think staying alive is something we could all line up and support. Apparently not.

  • Luckily, just in case we do end up destroying our ecosystem and leaving our world a burned-out husk upon which we can no longer live, we can use the New Worlds Observer to find another, unspoiled Earth-like planet to inhabit (link via boutell).

  • In sweeter news: Kurosawa action figures! Apparently it's kind of tricky to get specific ones, but you can order a random assortment online. Nice.

  • The Pink Haired Girl makes us aware of plans to possibly trick out future breast implants with cool technology. As the analyst involved so eloquently puts it, "If a woman has something implanted permanently, it might as well do something useful."

  • Dude, I love the idea of Michael Keaton as the Joker in the next Batman movie. Not only would it be wonderfully ironic to have a former Dark Knight now playing Batman's worst enemy, I genuinely think Keaton would be good in the part. But really, I've liked almost every actor they've mentioned so far as a possibility for the role, so our chances of having a great Joker are very high. Exciting stuff.

  • This show "Uncle Morty's Dub Shack" - which is apparently like a shorter version of MST3k, but focused on bad Asian films - sounds really cool. I wish we got the network it's on, but I've never even heard of it: ImaginAsian? What the heck is that?

  • Slashdot (via Yagathai) tells us a Princess Bride musical is in the works, and author William Goldman is involved. Very cool stuff! I could see the story as being quite ripe for a musical adaptation.

  • Thanks go to sarcasmoscorner for this one. Even though I think it's a little off...
    The Simple Geek
You answered 72% of the questions as a geek truly would.
You don't seem to sway in either direction, however you still seem to have some latent geek attributes within you. Maybe you're interested in computers but not a gamer? Maybe you've got geek hobbies but none of the awkward social tendencies. You may be slightly geekier than you thought and in denial!

The simple geek usually has various quirks that friends may make fun of, but in general can be considered a fairly normal person. Your geek attributes make you less likely to conform to society. The popular kids don't hate you but the geeks don't either, so it's a respectable demographic.

In a nutshell, you answered enough questions with geek tendencies and enough questions without geek tendencies that it's difficult to pinpoint your exact alignment.
