Post-Holiday Catch-up (or is that catsup?) Volume 3: Fun for Everyone
 by Fëanor

  • Sarcasmo, have I got something for you. It's like an avatar-maker, but in this case you build your own robot! It's a little limited, and I'm not sure exactly what all the little bits are really supposed to be for, but I expect it to keep you distracted from work regardless. (Via Backwards City)

  • This one's for SK and Aerenchyma: a fascinating Flickr-based examination of the differences between the 1963 and 1991 versions of Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever. Most edits are in the interests of modernization and political correctness, but some are puzzling, others disappointing, and all are interesting. (Also via Backwards City)

  • And now, for Yagathai, which corporate spokestoon would win in a fight? It's a web poll, apparently on behalf of a magazine. I kind of doubt I'll remember to try and track down the results, but it's still fun to consider and vote. (Again, via Backwards City - I only just discovered this blog, but it's fast becoming a strong source for my posts)

  • My final Backwards City-related post, this time for the world at large, is about UFOs. In short, they're real. Poppy and I already knew, because we heard it from this professor she worked for at school, but still, it's good to have the confirmation.

Okay, I don't want to be totally snarky about this. I mean, I bought that giant "I Want to Believe" poster in college for a reason. I think there's a real chance we're not alone in the universe, and I think if real proof of that came out, it would be truly amazing. I could also totally see Bush getting us into a war with the aliens. So planning ahead for a peaceful contact (assuming it hasn't already occurred) might not be a totally crazy idea. I'm just saying is all.

  • The latest This Modern World (subscription necessary, sorry) is an American parable, and is typically sad/funny/maddening. Check it!

  • Sarcasmo posted this scan of a clever postmodern Batman comic authored by Neil Gaiman and I couldn't resist passing it on to you folks. Enjoy!
