Dupes and Ducks
 by Fëanor

  • The EyeBud is an upcoming accessory for your video iPod that looks like a Borg attachment of some kind. Supposedly it projects the video in front of one of your eyes, making it appear larger and of a higher resolution. More specifically, it'll be like watching your iPod video on a 105-inch display from 12 feet away.

Okay, that's pretty cool. Kind of awesome, actually. But why only one eye? Won't that be kind of weird and disorienting? Won't you just want to close the other eye all the time and squint at it? And won't you look really dumb with your robot pirate headband on? And, worst and most important of all, won't you be broke after laying out the expected $599 retail price for the thing? (Via Digg)

  • Some of the commenters on Digg point out that you probably wouldn't have to go to such extremes to fix your monitor if it's been messed up by a magnet (like, you could probably just turn it off and turn it back on, or degauss it), but shooting it with a drill/magnet ray gun sounds like it would be fun to do anyway.

  • How about those Mars rovers, eh? They're still at it! Every once in a while NASA really does something right.
