Grubs and Shrubs, Volume Three
 by Fëanor

  • Butterfly on a Wheel sounds pretty intense. The story is that a vicious sociopath kidnaps a couple's child and blackmails them into destroying their own lives. What makes it particularly interesting is that the vicious sociopath is going to be played by Pierce Brosnan. The couple is going to be Maria Bello and Gerard Butler, which is okay, too. Could be a cool flick.

  • I'm not sure what this will mean for our beloved franchise, but all past (and, I assume, future) Star Trek TV series are now under the control of CBS Paramount Television. Hmm. Well, I'm all for anything that can take Trek in a new and better direction, so...hopefully this will be a good thing. (Via Digg)

  • Can you recover data from a busted hard drive by freezing it? This dude tried it out. His results were not stellar, but, as the comments on his page show, he didn't do it quite right. The trick is apparently to freeze the hard drive for a good four hours, then plug it in and get as much data off of it as you can as quickly as possible before it inevitably stops working altogether. Crazy. (Via Digg)

  • Pure idiocy, in video form: a couple of guys (no doubt college students) dancing, fighting, and lip synching to the Mortal Kombat theme song. It's funny stuff, people. (Via Joystiq)

  • I was never really a Commodore 64 guy, but I'm pretty sure some of you were, so you might enjoy this site, where you can play many of the C64 games online, as Java Applets. Enjoy! (Via Digg)

  • Jared: Nintendo Made Me Fat! And Subway made him slim. Is there anything giant corporations can't do? But seriously, screw you Jared. I will brook no disparaging comments towards the Nintendo Corporation or its subsidiaries! Well, okay, I'll brook some. Especially if I make them. But still.
