- Check out this super gun from a company called Metal Storm. It can fire 240,000 bullets per minute, and shoot mortar fire right out of the air. The US Army's testing it next month. I don't know about you, but that doesn't really comfort me. Check out some videos of it in action. (Via Digg)
- This old-school tank-fighting game is pretty fantastic - but also pretty tough! Patience and a good grounding in geometry will help. (Via Digg)
- I don't know much about Wintergreen, but now I know I like their song "When I Wake Up," thanks to this fantastic music video which also inexplicably tells the story of the infamously awful Atari videogame based on E.T. The band members even track down and dig up a couple hundred or so of the cartridges from a landfill in New Mexico. Great stuff. (Via Digg)
- As you all should know by now, that Disney/Pixar deal went through. The big mouse purchased the little lamp for a cool $9.85 billion. The good news is, Pixar's head honchos will be given control over Disney's entire animation division, and talented director and animation genius John Lasseter will become the principle creative director of the Imagineering group. Sounds good to me! And btw, Steve Jobs quietly takes a seat on Disney's board, not to mention a big chunk of their stock. That guy and Bill Gates now officially control all of the world, I think.
- I love the "killer Pac-Man" T-shirt pictured in this Joystiq post. The graphic apparently comes from this cartoon, but it's actually funnier and cooler out of context.
- You need to go to this page and download this MP3 right away. The link comes from this forum, via Joystiq, and the song is a fantastic mash-up of rap, hip-hop, and the Super Mario Bros. 2 soundtrack. It makes a fine addition to the geekfest playlist on my iPod.
