Voluminous Volumes, Volume Five
 by Fëanor

  • Time magazine's list of the 100 best films of all time is not bad, not bad at all. It's hard to think of which movies I would add, although it's pretty easy to pick out movies I'd subtract (the wretched Barry Lyndon, the dull Day for Night, the pointless 400 Blows, the bloated and melodramatic Farewell My Concubine, the - sorry - unfunny Some Like It Hot, the disappointing A Touch of Zen). But anyway, there's lots of great movies here, and I love a good list. (Via Backwards City, and I think maybe somebody else)

  • Attention comic book geeks and Who Would Win in a Fight poll fans! IGN is hosting a Spider-Man supervillain tournament, wherein the winners of each fight are determined by you, the reader! I know that Yagathai, at least, will have a very strong opinion about each and every one of these duels, and I'm sure somebody else out there will feel similarly, so go on over there and exercise your right to vote. (Via Backwards City)

  • Because I love perfectly useless, super geeky science trivia, and I know you do too, here's a FAQ on black holes. It will blow your mind, man. (Via Digg)

  • Need to stay awake, but don't like the effects caffeine has on your body? Try blue light! According to the latest scientitians, it'll perk you right up. I love these crazy studies. (Via Digg)

  • Ooh, that Handbrake DVD-ripping app is available for Windows now! Nice. Of course, I don't know if I really need to rip any DVDs right now, but it's still cool to know that I could if I wanted to.

  • This "trailer" for the PS3 is kind of interesting. Bits of it are corny and cliche (like the slow-motion shot of the guy running from the explosion - bored now!), and it's probably all pre-rendered early footage from games that haven't even been finished yet, but still, it's kind of impressive. And it's something to look at as we wait impatiently for the thing to finally come out... (Via Digg)
