Here's some cool stuff I found via Sarcasmo's Corner: a musical cartoon with a shrill and overstated, but generally sadly accurate, political message. And more amusing images from Something Awful. These involve retitling a movie based on its poster.
Well, as I hoped and expected, the Eagles trounced the Panthers yesterday. It was mighty satisfying, let me tell you. Unfortunately, also as expected, I didn't get a chance to play Knights of the Old Republic. So I've just been thinking about it for the last few days, considering what I'm going to do next. I think probably buy an energy shield with the credits I earned playing cards and fighting in the dueling ring. Heh.
After the football game, Bloginator and I went to the house/studio of a friend of mine and checked out some Genesis concert videos with him and some of his friends. It was a good time. Say what you want about Genesis, but in their early years, they rocked hard and long, and they were truly fantastic. The music is complex, the lyrics occasionally opaque and pretentious, but that only makes it more awesome. I don't see how anyone could deny the power and majesty of songs like "The Musical Box," "Supper's Ready," "The Fountain of Salmacis," "The Knife," "The Return of the Giant Hogweed," and so many more.
I've got to say, though, they had some real incompetent people making videos of them back then. And I'm not even talking about the amateur, crowd-photography stuff; I'm talking about stuff done in a studio by supposedly "professional" TV technicians. There was a whole lot of really bad, totally inappropriate blue-screening effects, and awful and repetitive use of slow motion playback. Ironically, as the band got older and more popular, and its music and performances lost some of their life and energy, the production got much, much better.
On a totally different note, Amazon.com recommendations can be really addictive. |
