Last night, poppy and I finally got around to watching Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (which is #2 in the series, in case you'd forgotten) for the first time. IIRC, most of the reviews of the movie were pretty poor, but we both think it's actually pretty good. Sure, it's overlong and overdone in parts, and there isn't much of an ending to it (it is unabashedly a middle movie in a trilogy, and you have to see the next one for a conclusion of any kind), but it's plenty of fun, with lots of great special effects, crazy adventure scenes, and amusing comedy. So I got pretty much what I expected from a Pirates film. And both poppy and I are now interested in seeing the third one. |
