Not About W at All! |

So, I checked out the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith teaser trailer today (available here for Hyperspace members), and I wanted to give some quick impressions. (Btw, by "checked out" I mean that I watched it three or four times, and then went through the more interesting parts frame by frame. Hee hee.)
It's pretty cool. The first half of the teaser is old footage with Obi-Wan's dialogue from Episode IV about Anakin and Vader playing in the background. Later we hear Darth Vader's distinctive voice and breathing (the way he says "master" sounds a little weird to me, but I'm nitpicking), and even see him, suit and all, locked onto some kind of table. We see the fiery, lava-covered area where Obi-Wan and Anakin will fight, and even see them clash a bit. There's random shots of spaceships shooting at each other, of Padme looking worried, of Yoda igniting his lightsaber, and of Mace Windu facing off against an unknown character with his lightsaber.
Most interesting is the inclusion of a robed figure with pointy teeth swinging a red-bladed light saber. I'm not totally certain, but I think that's Darth Sidious/The Emperor. With a lightsaber! Fighting somebody! Cool!
Another interesting thing is the lack of footage of evil super droid General Grievous. Grievous made his first appearance in the Clone Wars cartoons on Cartoon Network--and it was a shocking introduction in which he took out multiple Jedi. He's a master fighter/tactician who's leading the armies of the Trade Federation when Episode III begins. I thought we'd at least get a quick shot of him, but no such luck.
I don't remember seeing Count Dooku, either, which was also kind of surprising. I assume Anakin is going to kill Dooku, which act will be one of his last steps toward the Dark Side, but I can't imagine that'd happen really early in the movie.
I don't know. Anyway, the teaser is pretty cool. The teaser poster, which you can see here, is kind of lame, though. I liked the fake one better.
Regardless, I am psyched for the movie. There should be lots of fighting, and that's easily the best part of these new Star Wars movies. Actually, I kind of feel like going home and popping in my Episode I and Episode II DVDs just to watch the lightsaber duels... |
