The Setup |
by Fëanor |
I didn't think so at first, but now I'm reasonably certain that new comics are coming out on Thursday instead of on Wednesday this week, due to the holiday on Monday. This makes me sad. Luckily, I've still got Watchmen to finish rereading, and the hardback collection Batman and Son by Grant Morrison finally arrived in the mail from Amazon the other day, so I won't be completely without my beloved illustrated fiction for too long. Below are the items I'll be looking for tomorrow...
Backissues and old data
Hellboy Volume 5: Conqueror Worm
Hellboy Volume 6: Strange Places
Runaways Volume 5
Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham #3
Crécy
The Authority Volume One: Relentless
Heavy Liquid
The usual suspects.
New releases
Buffy Season 8 #6
Woo hoo! Buffy! This is the beginning of Brian K. Vaughn's run on this book. Should be interesting...
The Incredible Hulk #110
HULK! This is the only WWH title out this week, but it should also be a quality entry in the storyline, so I'm cool with that.
Lobster Johnson: The Iron Prometheus #1
I'm not too familiar with Mignola's Lobster Johnson character. My understanding is that he's a comic strip character in the Hellboy universe who, it turns out, is based on a real secret agent who did real amazing things. I think. I've never read anything about him at all. But this is the start of a new story arc, so it should be a good place to jump on. And it can't be bad, because it's by Mignola!
Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin #1
This is a special mini-series telling the secret origin of Iron Man's arch enemy. It's also apparently meant to prepare us for the upcoming Iron Man movie, which I want to be prepared for, so obviously I have no choice but to pick this up.
Batman: Gothic
This is a re-release of collected story arc from the old Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight comic series. I actually remember reading this arc when I was a kid; I forget if the comics were actually bought by my brother and I, or if we inherited them from somebody else. Point is, I remember us both really liking the story. I didn't realize until reading the preview for this release, however, that it was written by my man Grant Morrison. Good stuff! I'd definitely like to own this. |
