On the Viewer - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles ("Heavy Metal") |
by Fëanor |
I mentioned a while back that I missed last week's episode of this show because... well, because I just plum forgot. Luckily for me, Fox has an online video on demand service (accessible from the show's official website) where I was able to watch the episode for free this afternoon. I'm very pleased with this video player, not only because it gave me easy access to a show I'd missed, but because it's pretty high quality video, streaming live to my computer, and it never once froze, or gave me the dreaded "buffering" message, and although it did stutter once or twice, it was never very bad and never lasted for long. Bravo, Fox!
Oh, and the episode was pretty good, too! In fact, I'm continually impressed by the quality of this show. In this particular entry, our heroes finally realize that their nemesis from the first episode is likely still alive and coming after them, and they think they've tracked him down, until they realize they've actually stumbled upon a completely different Terminator with his own interesting and important mission. John finally grows some balls and demands the chance to ruin the Terminator's sh*t. And he's so determined to do it that he ends up defying his Mom and Cameron, getting cut off from them, and ending up in deep trouble. Meanwhile, the erstwhile FBI agent gets close to the heart of the mystery once again, only to once again fall short.
One of my big problems with this show early on was John, but now he's really getting to be a stronger and more interesting character; he's starting to take initiative; and he's starting to look more and more like the fighter and the leader he's meant to become. This episode is clever, exciting, thrilling, and suspenseful, and again they take the Terminator concept into an interesting new place by having one of the robots hanging around in the past with his own separate mission that has nothing to do with John. I am pleased. |
