A Dark Day
 by Fëanor

Poppy told me last night that T.O.'s injury was far more serious than everyone first thought. I was still optimistic and figured he'd be back for the play-offs. But the paper this morning cured me of this delusion. Best case scenario, he'll be back for the Super Bowl. Most likely scenario, that's it for him this year.

Urk!

I watched my tape of the Sunday game last night. I'm glad I didn't watch it when it was actually on. I would have had a stroke or something. It was a close, dirty game, and of course there was that injury to T.O. It was strange watching him on the tape, knowing what was going to happen. And then to actually see it happen, and then to see it happen again and again and again, thanks to the Fox network's merciless replays. It was also strange to hear them say the X-ray was negative, that that was good news for the Eagles, and maybe the injury wasn't as bad as it had looked. It all had the feeling of doom about it.

But I'm trying to take a positive attitude about the whole thing. I mean, we still have McNabb, who's an amazing player and a fantastic quarterback. We still have Westbrook, who impresses me more every game. And we have plenty more offensive weapons, like Pinkston, Mitchell, and Levens. Our defense is getting stronger all the time, thanks to guys like the Phreak, Jevon Kearse. And I think we still have a shot. It's a slimmer chance than the one we had with T.O., but it's a chance nonetheless.

So that's what I have to say about that.

For a lighter take on the vicissitudes of fate, I turn to Dilbert.

And in happier news, there's a date now for the release of the new Harry Potter book. Cool. Now if only George R. R. Martin could get it together and give us a date on Feast of Crows!
