On the Viewer - Fringe (Episode 10, "Safe") |
by Fëanor |
Hey, woah! We're in Philadelphia! It's so rare that they leave the immediate Boston area. And a bank robbery? How mundane! But oh, wait! It's cooler than that. They're using the walk-through-walls technology from "The Equation." Good stuff!
Ouch! I knew somebody was gonna get stuck. Heh. Walter is so excited to find a guy fused with a bank vault door. And he's excited to hear that there was a robbery in Baltimore, because he remembers a woman there with particularly large breasts. Good old Walter!
Huh. Dude in the wall is from Edison, NJ. Lots of local references this episode!
Hmm. What are these guys injecting themselves with?
"The scale of this hardware store is unprecedented!" I love Walter. Ah, another Bishop family spat. And then Walter tells the nice lady he'd like a saw for cutting human tissue. D'oh!
Ah, Jones is working with the bank robbers. And he knows where all the items are that they're grabbing. Hmm... Also, Jones' lawyer is scared of him. Heh.
Hey, and now we're actually going to Edison, NJ! Nice.
I had a feeling Olivia was mistaken about Raul, and was experiencing John's memories as her own. Wow, that's creepy. "Are you okay?" She sure ain't, lady!
As I've said before, I really like that John Scott didn't just go away after the pilot - that he continues to be a haunting presence.
Finally we get a look back at the body of John Scott, and what Massive Dynamic is doing with it. Looks like they're trying to get at his memories, too, but they're running into problems - because, of course, Olivia has those memories! Interesting...
It's weird that Walter keeps confusing Peter's childhood with his own. I feel like that's meaningful, outside of being a sign of his normal wackiness, and is going to be important later.
Ah, the robbers were apparently taking medication for radiation sickness - a side effect of walking through walls. I love Walter's demonstration with the vibrating football game, and when he asks Astrid if she wants to see him do it again.
The safety deposit boxes the robbers are breaking into were all opened 23 years ago, probably by the same guy. Jones, perhaps?
Uh oh, now Peter and Olivia are getting drunk together. And during their conversation, he casually calls her babe. Hmm!
Oh crap! The safety deposit boxes are Walter's! Now that's interesting. Of course, he can't remember why he opened them, where the rest are, or what's in them.
Good old Walter! Now he's licking the photographs.
I love the way they tracked down the robbers. Fun detective work sequence. I also like the way Peter sort of tricked Walter into remembering the bank.
Nice one, Olivia! She clipped one of the robbers in the leg, and now we have a suspect in custody!
Okay, what's Jones going to do with these random items he asked his lawyer to get him? Make some kind of weapon? Something that will help him escape? And why does he want to see Olivia again?
Man, Peter is good at this interrogation thing. Yet another weird hint at his mystery past.
Finally, the secret of Little Hill revealed! We're going to have our showdown there.
Jesus. The thing in the boxes is a freaking time machine! I've swallowed a lot of stuff for this show, but... a time machine? Well... I guess I'll go with it!
Ouch! I knew Jones was going to do something crazy. And that's why he was so interested in the guy's suit. He wanted a nice one to wear! Apparently they don't have a camera in his cell, but then again, why would they? I don't see how he can really get out. It's not like they're going to mistake him for the lawyer.
And now they're coming for Olivia. Crap! This is an exciting finale.
Oh! Of course! They're getting Jones! Fantastic. Okay, I'm all right with the time machine thing now, because that was awesome.
This was my favorite episode of the series yet. Very exciting, fast-paced, and intriguing, with good character moments, cool ideas, a number of real surprises, and a wonderful plot. Was this the last episode of the season, I wonder? I'll have to do some research on that. Regardless, great stuff! |
