I'm so excited about Star Wars right now. First of all, I just looked at some pictures from Episode III on the official site, and they are awesome. They're only available to Hyperspace members, so unfortunately linking to them will do you no good. Admittedly, I could save them and put them up here, but then I'd probably get the crap sued out of me, and I'd rather avoid that if possible. The point is, awesome. I know I mentioned my eternal, and usually misplaced, optimism about movies in my last post, but I really think Episode III could be good. In fact, it will be good, damn it! If you could only see this picture of Anakin in a corridor of Tantive IV! Or this one of him fighting Count Dooku in a room reminiscent of the Death Star's throne room, with Senator Palpatine manacled to a big chair behind them, and a space battle going on outside the window in the background! So awesome!
I also found this page about upcoming Star Wars games. I especially like the look of the Star Wars Lightsaber Battle Game and Star Wars Risk.
The Lightsaber Battle Game looks like Sarcasmo's zombie punching game, where a camera on top of the TV follows your movements and translates them into in-game actions. Except in this case, the camera is in the shape of a training remote from the movie and you're fighting with a lightsaber. You're actually holding a lightsaber toy and waving it around and it makes things happen in the game. Why didn't they have this when I was a kid?? This is like my dream toy.
As for Risk, well, yeah. Risk is one of those weird games that I really want to like, and that seems right up my alley, until I actually play it. Then it makes me very frustrated and unhappy. But I still have a copy of classic Risk, I've considered buying Lord of the Rings Risk multiple times, and now I'm seriously considering picking up Star Wars Risk. What can I say? I'm a sucker for battle games set in my favorite fantasy universes. |
