It's late, and I'm tired, but I finally beat Knights of the Old Republic. I killed Darth Malak, helped destroy the Star Forge and defeat the Sith armada, and generally saved the universe. Hoo hah.
Peccable warned me earlier tonight that the final battle might be unbeatable for a good character without certain evil force powers, and when I got to the end I saw what he meant. But whether it was because I had the combat difficulty set to Easy, or because I'd trained my main character to be a pretty formidable fighter, or because I had a lot of healing items left over, or because of some combination of all of these, I managed to make it through the battle pretty easily. It was basically just a matter of hanging in there and toughing it out--no real difficult decisions or strategical choices. Sort of like when I beat Diablo in Diablo 2: just keep hitting him, and when your health gets too low, use a healing item. Pretty straightforward, but ultimately satisfying.
[Warning! Spoilers ahead.] I was a little disappointed that I had to kill Bastila, though. I really thought I'd be able to turn her back from the Dark Side. Maybe I picked the wrong lines in the conversation, or maybe that Persuade that I failed was more important than I thought. But the ending seemed to be crafted with her death in mind, so maybe that's just the way it has to go down. Ah, well. It's not like I really liked her character anyway.
I'd go ahead and install KotOR 2 right now, but it's getting pretty late, and I should really probably get some sleep. Anyway, I think I can rest easier now knowing that the galaxy is safe from the Sith once more. Tee hee. |
