Because they are awesome, my parents look after our son twice a week (and sometimes even more often!). They also have an iPad which they allow Griff to play with. I've touched an iPad maybe twice. My son is thus better acquainted with this technology than I am. I guess that's something I'll have to get used to.
He started out by being mostly disinterested in what was going on on the iPad's screen and far more interested in the shiny snap on the outside case. But in a dizzyingly short amount of time he has become an iPad expert and now knows how to turn it on, unlock it, and play with various apps. In fact, he now requests the iPad almost as soon as my parents come in the door, by pointing at it and grunting.
I feel like now that he's become used to the intuitive, touch-screen interface of the iPad, he finds the clunky, counter-intuitive, non-touch-responsive interface of books to be a bit lacking. Luckily, he has found a way to make books into touch-screen interfaces, too. He simply points at or pokes an animal or object on the page, and then looks at us expectantly. We then provide the sound or name of the given object. He has trained us well.
