update
 by Fëanor

-Backed up my iPod, finally, using my new external hard drive. That makes me feel better. Will have to remember to back it up from now on, like once a month or something. My process for doing this has just been to copy the iPod_Control folder onto the harddrive. I wonder, if it ever comes to the point where I actually need to use the backup, if just copying that folder onto the iPod will work? I'm afraid the directory structure might be lost somehow - I'm not sure exactly how the iPod works. But at least I'll still have all the files, regardless.

-This past weekend we went down to the shore and took the dog with us; we stayed at poppy's grandfather's house. Floyd loved running around in the yard. We took him down to the beach once, and he seemed to like that, too, although he was wary of the water. When a wave crashed near him, he took off in the other direction. Anyway, I took more photos of him (although sadly none while he was on the beach) which I'll hopefully get uploaded soon - maybe this afternoon? Depending on what else I've got to do.

-Well, I found a free DVD-to-iPod converter, but no free DVD ripper. Meanwhile, I'm using this thing called Magic DVD Ripper that both rips and converts in one fell swoop. You get five free trial uses before it craps out and you're supposed to buy it. So far it's working well; if it continues to do so throughout the trial period, I may just break down and pay the money, because it seems like my only other option is going to be buying a program that just rips, and that seems silly when I've got this thing that does both at once and works perfectly fine.

-Btw, I'm 28 today. That's getting a bit closer to 30 than is comfortable, but what can you do? Plan to celebrate this afternoon by buying music/games off of iTunes. Yay!

-May also celebrate by putting on the unaltered Return of the Jedi and skipping to the end to listen to the "Yub Yub" song in all its glory.
