The Take
 by Fëanor

I had hoped to not buy everything on my list last week, and indeed I didn't - but only because one of the books wasn't available (Darwyn Cooke's Batman collection got its release delayed for one reason or another). And then I bought two more that I hadn't planned to buy. D'oh. Anyway, I've read almost all the books I bought, so I thought I might as well do a quick run down.

Amazing Spider-Man #541
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #21
I actually hadn't realized that I missed an issue of FNSM, but I found one on the shelves I hadn't read, so I picked it up along with my other selections. I still feel kind of unsure about both of these titles. I like Spider-Man, so I feel like I should read one of the current books about him, but neither of these really blow me away. They're both mildly entertaining, and I find myself curious to see what's going to happen next in each of them, but that's about it. I'd like to drop one or both of them, but I probably won't be able to make myself do so.

Captain America #27
This one remains interesting. Man, Tony's having a bad time of it these days. How many people want to kill him now? There's the giant green guy from outerspace, and now the Winter Soldier, who has managed to equip himself with Cap's indestructible shield. Better start wearing that iron suit to bed, Tony.

Catwoman #68
This was all right, but I've realized that I just don't find this title interesting or exciting enough to keep collecting it. I've decided to drop it.

X-Men: Endangered Species #1
Well, I did it; I bought their dumb giant story-arc-opening one-shot. And it was pretty lame. There just wasn't anything exciting going on here. The characters, the dialogue, the story, none of it grabbed me. It's just the same old mutant crap. Yawn. Plus, the list of titles I'd have to buy to follow this arc, which runs only as a back-up title anyway in the backs of other X-titles, is just ridiculous. So, yeah, I'm done with that.

Ghost Rider #12
Heroes for Hire #11
Incredible Hulk #107
Iron Man #19
These were all the WWH titles for last week. The Iron Man and HfH issues were both pretty lame. Iron Man just told the exact same story as WWH #1, but from a slightly different perspective. Most of the dialogue was even the same. Bo-ring! As for HfH, I wasn't that familiar with most of the characters, and cared about them even less. Nothing too exciting there. Ghost Rider, however, was very fun. I'm almost tempted to start following that title, even if the storyline of the Rider destroying pieces of Lucifer reminds me of The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. Meanwhile, I think I am going to start collecting Incredible Hulk. I love the super-smart kid character, and this issue was just a ton of fun, with lots of funny dialogue, interesting story twists, and great action. Plus, the interesting ending of this title has me back to being excited about WWH again.

Conan #41
I got tricked into buying another issue of this book, and again it just wasn't that good. I've taken it off the list again, and it's staying off unless something really crazy happens - like Alan Moore starts writing it or something.
