On the Viewer - Battlestar Galactica ("The Ties that Bind")
 by Fëanor

Still catching up on my BG. This episode was brutal and crazy and pretty excellent. I can't talk about it without revealing important plot events, so I'm just going to go ahead and drop some spoilers on you. Skip this post if you haven't seen this episode yet.

Cally and the Chief's relationship is coming apart at the seams. She thinks he's having an affair, but then finds a note that leads her to the latest meeting of the Cylon club, where she learns the truth is much, much worse! She hits the chief with a wrench and takes the baby with her, planning to space her child and herself. Tory shows up and talks her down, only to knock her out and steal the baby, and then space Cally herself. Argh!! Not Cally! That death definitely hurt me. And what is the deal with Tory? Is she working under orders from some latent Cylon programming, or has the revelation of her true nature coupled with Baltar's religious dogma driven her off the deep end?

Meanwhile, after insisting that he has not pulled Lee into the Quorum to undermine Roslin, Tom Zarek easily manipulates Lee into undermining Roslin. Over on the Demetrius, Starbuck continues to crack up while her crew continues to doubt her. As for the Cylons, Cavil seems to be negotiating a peace that will bring everyone back together, and which includes unboxing the Threes, but really he's just bring the civil war up to a whole new level of brutality. Oh, and apparently he and Boomer are together. Icky!

Lots of interesting, shocking, and moving stuff happened in this episode, and there was hardly any whining or irritating bits. The show is definitely getting back on track! I've already started watching the next episode.

UPDATE: Thinking back on this episode, I realized something bugged me about it. Tory suddenly becomes really strong and is able to throw Cally back through the air and knock her out with just one blow. But obviously she must have always been this strong. So, how come during the course of their lives none of the Final Four ever discovered they were abnormally strong? It wouldn't necessarily come up all that often, but surely they must have tested their strength while lifting weights or fighting or something at some point. It's not a big deal, but it does make the whole concept of Cylons who don't know they're Cylons a little harder to believe.
