Skates and Rats Volume 1: The Gaming Post
 by Fëanor

  • Sometimes I think I'm alone in my crazy opinions, so it's nice to see one validated (or at least agreed with) in print every once in a while. For example, Joystiq agrees that old games were fricking hard! The obvious follow-up to that being that new games are easier. Netjak examines why this is so, and decides it has less to do with a desire (on the part of developers) to make games more enjoyable, and more to do with a desire to make more money. Which is probably generally accurate.

Btw, that image of the Disney Game Over screen looks really familiar for some reason. I have a feeling whatever game that is frustrated me a great deal when I was younger...

  • Nintendo is back on top! At least, according to the results of this casual and generally meaningless web poll. I didn't vote in this one, but I would have had to go with one of the last two answers if I had, seeing as how I'm not an Xbox guy. So maybe they just had a lot of respondents who didn't get a 360.

  • Oh, man. Those Japanese. They've made an (apparently all-girl) fighting game called Line-Kill Spirits (or something like that; the translation is literal) in which taking up-skirt photos of your opponent is a major part of the game. There's even a video if you're curious - you pervert! What's that? Yeah, I watched the video. So? What are you trying to say?

I love Inverted Castle's final comment on this: "That's it. The Japanese are done. They can now return to planet Japania, leaving all the people of Earth horribly confused and scarred for life." Bless them for confusing and scarring us in that wonderful way they have, though. (Via Joystiq)
