Skates and Rats Volume 2: The Political Post
 by Fëanor

  • Fantastic quick photo history of Bush's evolving strategy on Iraq. It's great to see that we're finally formulating a plan...after the mission is supposed to be over.

  • Gasp! Evidence and data may have been carefully picked and spun to make the case for war in Iraq? Imagine that! Come on now, people. Whoever hasn't already known this for years hasn't been paying attention.

  • Oh, gosh, the poorly planned and executed No Child Left Behind Act doesn't appear to be working! Who could have predicted that?

Wow, NPR is really activating my bitter political sarcasm this morning.

  • And while I'm trashing Bush, let's join Europe and Salon in criticizing his crazed, dangerous, and totally unrealistic abstinence-only approach to AIDS prevention (not to mention his opposition to providing clean needles - because if we give people syringes and condoms, they might want to take drugs and have sex! As if they wouldn't want to otherwise...). The UK and other European nations issued a statement (subscription link; sorry, folks) for World AIDS Day in which they subtly suggest that Bush is a big poopy head:
We are profoundly concerned about the resurgence of partial or incomplete messages on HIV prevention which are not grounded in evidence and have limited effectiveness.
