Guff and Gags, Volume Two |
by Fëanor |
- Dude, we can manufacture artificial blood. According to the Japanese company that's doing it, the blood is sterilised and won't pass on any viral or bacterial infections. They'll supposedly be testing it on humans (actually, the article says "humanoids," so maybe they mean humanzees??) next year. This would be crazy awesome. I could totally stop feeling guilty about never donating blood. (Via Digg)
- Hey, remember when I mentioned that possible upcoming Pixar movie, Ratatouille, yesterday? Well, today they announced an official release date: Summer 2007. Prepare for French rat restaurant hi-jinks!
- In other Pixar news, it turns out they are going to make a Toy Story 3 after all. Of course, before it would have been in the hands of Disney alone, but now, after the merge/buy-out/what-have-you, the animated toy saga is back in good hands at Pixar. So I'll be looking forward to this one.
- Dude, LEGO Difference Engine. I don't have much to say about this except it's totally geeky and awesome. (Via Digg)
- A cool map of the underwater cables that provide the medium of transport for most international internet and phone traffic. (Via Digg)
- Scientists exploring a remote mountain rainforest of New Guinea have discovered a Garden of Eden full of new and rare species of animals, all so unaccustomed to the presence of human beings that they wandered right in amongst the scientists and went on with their business unconcerned. Check out the article for more on the tree kangaroos, spiny anteaters, and Berlepsch's six-wired bird of paradise. Cool stuff. (Via Digg)
