New Super Mario Bros. - Finished! I enjoyed it quite a bit, even if the ending was anti-climactic (got to the last guy with fireballs, so I just had to keep hitting a button until he died). It was great to play an old-school Mario platformer again, especially one done so elegantly, with some great new power-ups and a clever mixture of everything that's made Mario games great over the years. At some point I should probably go back and figure out how to open up worlds 3 and 7, but I think I'm done with this one for now.

Mario and Luigi Super-Star Saga - Picked this one up on Peccable's advice. So far, I'm thinking it was good advice. He is my gaming guru. This game is basically Paper Mario for the GBA. I stuck it in my DS to see what would happen, and discovered that I can play Game Boy games on there! I didn't even know that. Sweet! Anyway, this one is quite funny and fun so far. I'm looking forward to playing it out, and then buying the DS sequel. Man, I love the DS. What a fantastic little device.

Outbound Flight - Just read this Star Wars novel by Timothy Zahn. I enjoyed Timothy Zahn's original trilogy of Star Wars novels, set after episodes IV, V, and VI, and I've read most of his other Star Wars novels since then. But pretty much only his. I tried to read one by some other guy one time, and it was just awful. Not that Zahn is any great shakes himself, but he's tolerable, and you know, I like the Star Wars universe. Anyway, this one was set between episodes I and II and covered the story of a Jedi exploration into the Unknown Territories that had come up kind of tangentially in Zahn's other books. It was all right for what it was, and it was interesting to learn more about the backstories of C'baoth, Thrawn, Outbound Flight, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Darth Sidious, etc., but I have a feeling Zahn was making references to all kinds of other characters and things from expanded universe books that I didn't know anything about. Ah, well.

In other news, not related to books or games, I put up a couple of shelves and some clothes hooks all by myself (well, okay, poppy helped a little), with my new drill! I'd been putting it off and dreading it for some time, but once I got started, I actually got pretty excited about it, and was kind of disappointed there wasn't more to do when I was finished. I was also pretty impressed and pleased with my handiwork, despite the errors along the way, and the fact that the shelves were tiny pre-made things and hardly took any work to hang.

I've got some photos I've been meaning to put up on the site for a while; I'll do that as soon as I get the chance.

Don't think I've got anything else, so I'll sign off for now...
