Because my blog wasn't enough like Sarcasmo's, I've now added a feature wherein you can see how many comments a post has without having to click the comments link for that post. Because, you know, poppy and I need to feverishly check for comments on our posts, over and over again, and this makes it much easier. :)
I've also made a few changes to the back-end interface of the blog, where poppy and I login and post/edit/delete entries and stuff like that. Nothing big; just fixing some small bugs, and adding some more features and security.
While I was making these changes tonight, I hit a snag that was really frustrating me. I kept getting a php/sql error and I didn't understand why. Then I finally realized I'd been using asp/vbscript syntax in my php code. That's when you know you've been coding in way too many languages in one day...
UPDATE: I forgot to mention, on the subject of blog improvements, a few people have asked that I set up an rss feed for the blog. Rss is one of those things I've heard a lot about but never really looked into. (I just can't seem to write that sentence without ending it with a preposition. Sorry.) I did a little research today, and I feel like I have a slightly better grasp on what it is, but I'm not much closer to actually implementing it. One of the annoying things I learned is that there are lots of different versions, and you should probably support them all if you want people to be able to use the syndication feature. Grr. Sounds like the stupid stuff I'm dealing with at work with Java applets and different VMs.
Long story short, I'm working on it, and hope to have a syndication link up soon. Can't disappoint my customers! |
