Good news and bad news
 by Fëanor

-I was very pleased and relieved upon returning home last night to discover that not only had our doggie licked his food bowl clean, he had also drank his water bowl nearly dry. Yes, he has decided that it is okay again for him to walk down the hallway. Thank goodness. Maybe it was the new rug that freaked him out this time?

-At VM's recommendation, I downloaded the Sudoku iPod game from the iTunes Music Store. All-in-all, I'm very pleased - thanks, VM! At first I was annoyed by the clunkiness of playing the game with the clickwheel, but I'm getting used to it; discovering the setting that allows you to move orthogonally over the grid by tapping the buttons helped a lot. I thought I was pretty good at the game, but was completely unprepared for how hard it could get; at the "Very Hard" difficulty level, I found it necessary to start recording all the possible numbers that each box could hold, and even then it took me an hour and a half, two guesses to narrow things down, and learning new ways of using logic and approaching the puzzle to finally defeat it. And after that, I've unlocked an even harder difficulty level called Insane. Insane indeed!

-Unfortunately, despite another doctor's appointment last night that featured lots of strange treatments and a change in drug dosage, poppy's insomnia has not gone away. In fact, if anything it seems to be getting worse. She's taking a much needed day off from work today. I wish I knew how to help her, besides applying liberal cartoons, Monty Python, and Trivial Pursuit...
