Last night's comic book trip was pretty successful. The only books I still have to catch up on now are The Eternals, Ultimate Power, and Immortal Iron Fist. Immortal Iron Fist back issues I'm not worried about finding eventually, but I haven't even seen any issue of any kind of The Eternals or Ultimate Power since I originally bought them, which puzzles me. Ah, well. I'll track them down eventually.
Once I catch up on all these back isues, I should be able to stop spending so much money each week on the comics...
Movie night was good, because thanks to the generous Super Tarzan, I got to see the original Cape Fear for the first time. I'm afraid I talked to much during it (sorry, ST), and complained a bit at the main characters' sometimes almost inexlicably stupid actions, as well as the slightly unbelievable (to my mind, anyway) ending, but the movie was quite good despite all that. It's surprisingly disturbing, sleazy, and menacing, given the time of its production. Then again, it never really shows you anything particularly awful, it just does a lot of... suggesting. Very strong suggesting. The film is very upsetting and frustrating, because you can see terror and horror coming, but you also can see no good, legal, safe way for the main character to escape it. |
