Flying Fists of Fury |
by Fëanor |
D'oh! Nobody told me that they push back comic book releases by a day due to holidays! Although apparently even my wife knew this. Ah, well. Regardless, I still came out of Atomic City with a bag full of comics last night, and I'm going to try to drop by the comic shop in Cherry Hill tonight to get those couple of new books I wanted. As for back issues, I'm nearly caught up now! I still need Immortal Iron Fist #3 and Eternals #4, but my Ultimate Power collection is complete. I have added a backissue to my list, however: Runaways #25. That's the issue where Joss Whedon started writing the series. I finally read #26, which I picked up a while back, and I loved it, so I'll be collecting this one at least until Whedon leaves it behind. The concept is brilliant: a bunch of super-powered children discover their parents are supervillains, foil their parents' latest evil schemes, and then just run away from home and get into wacky adventures. #26 had some great moments, like the Kingpin having an internal monologue about war and cities and so forth, that was interrupted for a moment by "mmmm, chocolate" as he bit into a candy bar. And then of course the scene where the smallest and cutest of the Runaways takes down The Punisher with one quick punch to his gut. Heh, heh. Poor Punisher.
I also read Captain America #26 and (The New) Fantastic Four #546 and was impressed by both, so I'll be collecting those for the forseeable future. I even went back and bought the issues before those two, just to catch up a bit (although I don't plan to dig back and try to get all the backissues because that would be crazy).
World War Hulk is coming! I can't wait! |
