Lobster Johnson: The Iron Prometheus #2
Yes, more Buffy, and more Lobster Johnson. Good times!
The Vinyl Underground #1
This is a new series coming out of DC's Vertigo label that sounded pretty intriguing to me. The concept is an Invisibles-style British crime-fighting team who use weird powers to dig through the dirty things and defeat evil. I'm giving it a shot, and we'll see how it goes.
Omega: The Unknown #1
This is a series I've been looking forward to since I first read about it. It's a reboot of a rather obscure old superhero, written by author Jonathan Lethem (whose work I don't always love, but who's definitely a talented writer - just find yourself a copy of As She Climbed Across the Table if you don't believe me). All I really needed to hear was the name Lethem to prick up my ears, but the story - about a mute, super-powered alien who has a strange connection to an Earth boy - is intriguing, too. I'm hoping this will be a good book, but it's hard to say if Lethem's talents will translate well from regular fiction into the comic book medium (especially since I discovered how poorly Grant Morrison's gifts translate in the other direction, after reading his awful Batman short story in the middle of the Batman and Son collection). |
