Boring Blah Post |
by Fëanor |
The search function I've been talking and thinking about adding to the blog ever since I made the blog is now finally operational. There's a link to it at the bottom of the page. Let me know if it doesn't work the way you think it should and I'll see if I can make it better.
I'm thinking that when they moved my site over they might have switched me to a server in a different time zone again. The dates I'm looking at on these posts don't always seem to make sense. I'm going to see if I can figure that out. UPDATE: I seem to have been wrong about this. This post showed up with the right date and time. *shrug*
I'm also seeing a problem with the way personal info gets saved on the comments page. This means my cookies aren't working. Stupid cookies. Probably when they switched my site over, they also switched me to a server with a different version of php installed that doesn't handle cookies the same way. So I've changed something and we'll see if it fixes the problem. UPDATE: It did.
Next thing I want to fix--the Edit/Go Back button on the post preview page. All it does is move you back one in your history, which should theoretically take you back to the previous page with all of the data you entered still intact. But sometimes it takes you back to a blank page and you lost your entire post. I'm going to fix this, but it's going to require a lot of dumb, repetetive code, so it could take me a little while. UPDATE: Or not. I actually found a very simple and elegant work-around that takes care of this problem completely--previews now open in a new window. Sweet.
If my post seems rather dull and without life today, it's because I'm feeling rather dull and without life today. My sore throat is pretty much gone, but I'm still generally sick and snotty and stuff. Plus there's other depressing stuff going on that I won't get into. Long story short...blah.
Recently I picked up the Universal Legacy DVD Collections for both Frankenstein and The Mummy. Last night, Poppy and I finally got around to watching a movie on one of those DVDs (although I haven't gotten around to adding it to my list yet). It's called The Mummy's Hand and it's the sequel to the original Universal The Mummy with Boris Karloff (which is a fantastic movie, btw; one of my favorites of the old monster movies). Sadly, this one doesn't star Karloff (he never returned to the role, in fact), or any of the other actors from the first movie (though it does include a couple of clips from the Ancient Egypt flashback sequence in the first movie). It's not even about the same mummy, although this mummy's story is suspiciously similar to the story of Karloff's mummy. Basically it's about a bunch of blundering idiots who eventually manage to set a mummy on fire, though not before a good number of them get strangled and shot. I thought it was mildly entertaining--the mummy was at least pretty creepy looking sometimes--but poppy thought it was totally awful.
Anyways, I think that's pretty much it for now. Later, folks. |
