On the Viewer - Battlestar Galactica: Razor |
by Fëanor |
TrackerNeil will be happy to know that I finally got around to watching this. I have to admit, however, I was a little disappointed. It was definitely interesting to see some of the past get filled in, and to see things from the perspective of the Pegasus crew. Learning that Cain had a relationship with the Six on her ship made perfect sense, and made what she did to her both more understandable and more awful at the same time. There were many good scenes, and some of the stuff with the hybrid was very intriguing. (Spoilers ahead.) But the idea of the hybrid being able to see the past and the future was a bit hard to swallow, and I found the actual main storyline cliche to the point of being dull and irritating. Just consider the story of Kendra Shaw: she's a pampered officer who has to toughen up and do horrible things to survive being on the Pegasus, and she's haunted and bitter and finally sacrifices herself to save her fellow officers. How many times have we seen that story, or one's very similar to it? For that matter, how many times have we seen it in Battlestar Galactica already?
Admittedly, it's told rather well here, and like I said I was fascinated to learn more about the development of the human-like Cylons, get a hint about the future from the hybrid, and see how things really went down on the Pegasus. I just wish the plot and characters could have been more original. |
