On the Viewer - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Episode #103, "The Turk") |
by Fëanor |
Hey, this show is getting even better! I was very impressed by this episode. Some shocking moments, some very cool stuff with the terminator getting new skin, and a tough moral and ethical dilemma for Sarah. Plus, the weaknesses of the show so far - whiny John, and Sarah's narration - suddenly became strengths, as John had a great scene in which he argued that it was time to start acting the hero instead of just hiding and waiting for it to happen to him, and Sarah had some great little stories to tell us in her narrative segments about Oppenheimer and The Bomb, stories which had strong parallels to Sarah's fight to stop the creation of Skynet. Sarah also did some pretty stone cold stuff in this episode, although she wasn't quite as stone cold as Cameron thought she should have been (and maybe that's a mistake that will come back to haunt them all).
My only real issue with this episode is that they made it clear again just how terrible the terminators are as infiltration units. Cameron is pretty awful at interpreting and mimicking human behavior. Meanwhile, the evil terminator is hardly even trying to keep a low profile, as he stomps his way into a hospital and, when somebody tries to stop him, rather than quietly crushing his windpipe, he tosses the guy through a door. Still, even this stuff didn't really bother me that much, as it's fun to watch the terminator throw guys through doors.
This is totally my new favorite show! |
