Endings
 by Fëanor

As you already know if you've read the comments on the previous entry, I finished League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Volume 2 recently. Well, I haven't finished reading the entire book yet, as the thing is as stuffed with extras as a special edition DVD, but I will soon enough. It's an awesome, hilarious, horrifying piece of work, and one that I shall be proud to have on my bookshelves.

Be sure to go over and welcome my friend Aerenchyma to the community at her new blog, A Time and Place. She just put up her site yesterday, and there's already two posts on it, and a link to our site, so I'm very pleased with it. It's been added to the list of Passages Elsewhere.

Also yesterday, the holiday spirit of giving, as well as the spirit of guilt and the spirit of fear, not to mention an email from Aerenchyma, inspired me to donate to three great causes: the ACLU, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Red Cross. I encourage you to give, too, if you can. It's pretty important stuff.

If you've been paying attention to the other parts of my site, you'll also have noticed that I've been putting in a lot of work on the 2004 film festival diary the last couple of days. Well, today, over eight months since the festival ended, and a mere two days before the end of the year, I finally finished it. Find the last episode here. I might write a Postscript to sum things up, like I did for last year's diary, but I don't think that's really necessary. We'll see how I feel in a few hours, though.

Have I mentioned how awesome Third Age is? Because it's really awesome. I'm really impressed by how your characters' appearances update in real-time as you equip them with different shields, cloaks, helmets, etc. Their movements are also really fluid and realistic, and the visuals for the magic spells are really impressive and cool. Plus, I've just added a dwarf to my party, and successfully vanquished a really big cave troll, so I'm feeling mighty sassy.

I was going to talk about the earthquake and tsunami and that whole tragedy, and all these famous people dying recently (Reggie White, Susan Sontag, Jerry Orbach), but it's all too depressing. So instead I think I'll go think about what I can spend my Amazon.com gift certificates on.

Rock on, y'all.
