Busy Weekend
 by Fëanor

On Saturday morning, I helped my friend Dave move some furniture around in preparation for its transfer to his new apartment. I would have helped him more, but I had an appointment later that afternoon to meet with my Dad and bloginator and show them Kill Bill volumes one and two. That's what I call a family get together! I'd seen both movies in the theater, but my Dad and brother had seen neither. It was good to watch them again. Together, they make quite a fine film. And man are they violent and gory! I mean, I knew they were, but...damn!

And I realized something about the movies this time that I may or may not have noticed the first time I saw them--they leave two loose ends (these being two of the very small number of people that the Bride doesn't actually kill), either of which could be used as the jumping off point for a sequel. I'd love a sequel, myself, as long as it was also made by Quentin Tarantino. But if they gave it to Joel Schumacher or something I might have to kill somebody.

When I got back to the apartment that night, poppy and I had some dinner and then set the place up for the party the next day, and by the time that was all done, it was getting late and we were tired and, as we had suspected would be the case, we were not up for making the trek out to the Pink Haired Girl's place for the second installment of her birthday party. Sorry, Cyn! Maybe next time.

On Sunday, after some last minute shopping, I caught up on my "Battlestar Galactica" (I got into a raging bad mood Friday night when I realized I'd forgotten to watch it, but then poppy found that it was being replayed at 1 AM, so I put a tape in and felt much better) and then our wine and cheese party (AKA Wine-o-Rama) began. Much wine was drank (drunk?) and much cheese was eaten, not to mention all the fruits and crackers and pound cake and pepperoni and bread. I had many types of cheese and liquor that I'd never had before, including port, which I found quite enjoyable. I sadly missed out on the mead, however. And trying all this new wine reminded me that I still want to try sake one of these days...

We also played some video games and watched a movie (Beat Takeshi's Zatoichi--not exactly what I would call a fun party movie, but it was enjoyable; I had forgotten how excellent some of the fight sequences were). Lots of people were there, so I won't list all of them, but they rock and it was a good time. I await Yagathai's "What I Eat" update with great anticipation. :)
