The NFC Championship Game
 by Fëanor

Well, that was a frustrating, disappointing game. It wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been so painfully clear that the Eagles could, and should, have won it. The defense wasn't as strong as it had been in the previous few games, and the offense was even weaker, with McNabb making many really bad throws. They couldn't seem to do anything about Larry Fitzgerald, who's a ridiculously talented young player that I wish we had on our team. By the end of the first half I was ready to write the Eagles off entirely. But then they came back big time on both sides of the ball in the third quarter, taking the lead and giving me reason to hope again... only to dash those hopes in the final quarter, with another lackluster performance where they threw away every possibility of victory.

All that being said, the Eagles made it further this season than they had any right to. DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis had some amazing plays (like Jackson's ridiculous circus catch touchdown); they were one of the final four teams; they gave the Cardinals a run for their money; and they put Kurt Warner in the dirt a couple of times. And the good news is, I can now simply enjoy the AFC championship game and the Super Bowl, calmly and without anxiety, because there's nothing at stake anymore.

Plus, there's always next year.

UPDATE: Just had a slice of some leftover "Go Eagles" cake, to see if it would taste like ashes and bitter defeat. But it mostly just tasted like cake.
