by Fëanor |
Fëanor pours the entire internet into the Recyclotron, and only the best links come out the other end for you to enjoy.
- Embedded above please find one of the most insane tennis shots of all time. (Via)
- Five good signs about the Disney/Marvel merger were evident at Disney's recent entertainment expo, D23. Also from D23, an interview with the producer of Tron: Legacy, a huge gallery of photos, and a collection of the biggest announcements. The latter includes: titles for the next Pirates and Muppets movies; John Carter of Mars is going to be a franchise; Guillermo del Toro will spearhead a new label called Disney Double Dare You, which will make scarier movies for the family audience (this must be the "D" announcement del Toro teased a while back); and the rumors are true: Robert Zemeckis' next project will be a 3-D motion-capture remake of the Beatles' Yellow Submarine.
- A look at how birds transform themselves to prepare for migration.
- Ooh, cool car.
- Details on the plots of Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 from the man himself, John Lasseter. And here's more detail on Lasseter's recent announcements about Disney/Pixar projects.
- The 10 sexiest scream queens.
- Ads could be coming to Twitter.
- "Halo 3 players are suing the game's publisher Microsoft and the developer Bungie, claiming that Halo 3 doesn’t work properly with the Xbox 360 console."
- Interesting and amusing tidbits about a mostly unknown genius, Paul Dirac, and his poor social skills.
- The website Texts From Last Night (which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like) could be turned into a TV comedy.
- Enter to win a free copy of Odd and the Frost Giants, the Neil Gaiman book I posted a trailer for the other day. (Via)
- Various Alice in Wonderland-related images.
- A French convict escaped a high-security prison by hiding in a cardboard box and waiting to be loaded onto a truck with dozens of other boxes.
- Imagining what Bryan Singer's Battlestar Galactica movie could look like, through concept art. (Via)
- I really don't understand why so many people disliked the film Hancock so much. I thought it was really good! And I'm excited that Charlize Theron is on board for a sequel. I'm not as excited that this means director Peter Berg's Dune adaptation is likely to be pushed back, but whatever.
- Weird, cool vehicles from Burning Man.
- An interesting programming contest: build a bot that can play Unreal Tournament 2004 in a way that is indistinguishable from a real human player. Nobody was quite able to do it, but one programmer got sort of close.
- Another horrifying look at the distant past: there used to be giant eagles that ate people! (Via Sarah)
- Sounds like it's possible that the formation of DC Entertainment could make a Wonder Woman movie more likely. And speaking of DC Entertainment, I wasn't really sure what to make of that whole thing, so I was pleased to find io9's analysis of it. It sounds like maybe it's not a very good thing, despite the good news for Wonder Woman.
- Jeff Bridges could play Rooster Cogburn in a remake of True Grit directed by the Coen brothers. That is some crazy news right there. I like it!
- Apparently we can expect a lot more Observers to pop up on Fringe in the coming season (via). And here's a few more hints about what we can expect to see.
- The new trailer for Surrogates is very cool, but it may give away a bit too much! (Via)
- Michael Stipe, Sandy Stern of Single Cell, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman are joining forces to create a romantic comedy based around the music of Barry Manilow. Wha?!
- Ha! "I've never seen such behavior in the war room before!" (Via)
- A new blog I will obviously have to subscribe to: Animals With Lightsabers. (Via)
- A painfully cute animated gif.(Via Camden)
- Darth Vader catches an employee making a terrible mistake on Spacebook. (Via)
- I was interested in Agora (a film about the Library of Alexandria, and a famous female Roman scholar) when I first read about it, but then kind of lost interest when I saw the rather dull trailer. Now I'm kind of interested again after reading this very positive review from Cinematical.
- The war of words between Megan Fox and Michael Bay continues, and it looks like Bay has the crew on his side.
- Woah! Check out this trailer for Solomon Kane. That looks a lot cooler than I thought it would!
- YouTube Auto Buffer sounds like a handy userscript. You can use it to turn autoplay off, to make sure you're always watching the best quality version of every video, and to hide in-video ads.
- "Physicists want to create a quantum superposition of a virus, which will allow them to perform [the] Schrodinger's Cat experiment for real." Woah. (Via)
- A T-Rex/Unicorn/Wizard! Three great tastes that taste great together - on a T-shirt! Brilliant!
- Maps of fairy tale lands. (Via)
- A game called Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth is coming to the Wii. Exciting!
- Dr. Horrible won an Emmy! Cool!
- A life-size papercraft Link. I don't usually care about papercraft, but that's impressive.
- Bruce Campbell says he has a major role in Spider-Man 4.
- How about a new trailer for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2? Looks like they're going to base the game's plot of the Civil War storyline.
