Recyclotron |
by Fëanor |
Fëanor pours the entire internet into the Recyclotron, and only the best links come out the other end for you to enjoy.
- New promo pics for Dollhouse season 2. What's with Echo in the black leather jacket holding the katana?? Will it turn out she's one of a race of immortals of whom there can be only one? (Via)
- Ooh, concept art for Duncan Jones' next movie, the Blade Runner-esque Mute.
- io9 is a bit obsessed with cities lately. They've got 8 of the best futuristic cities in comcis, new details about the city in Tron: Legacy, cities you can never leave, fun gadgets you can find in modern cities, and a look at magalopolisomancy - the magic and the ghosts that haunt cities.
- A cat eating corn on the cob. I give you only the most important links on the internet, people.
- An update on the film adaptation of Ronin.
- According to Harrison Ford, not only is the subject of the next Indiana Jones movie already decided, Geroge is already working on the script.
- Check out the trailer for the video game 3D Dot Game Heroes. It looks very similar to the original Legend of Zelda, but done up in a weird, pixelated, 3D visual style.
- Want to buy some of Ingmar Bergman's stuff?
- An interesting clip from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine DVD.
- These melting snowman cookies are pretty cute.
- Director Peter Berg talks about what he plans to do with his movie adaptation of the game Battleship. Probably it won't be a lot of tense scenes of people calling out letter/number combinations.
- Check out this cool video of a Rube Goldberg mechanism in action - except instead of actual physical interactions making it go, it's invisible RFID pulses. I've always loved Rube Goldberg machines, and an updated, high tech one is very cool to see.
- Spielberg is not worried about Robert Redford's Lincoln film interfering with his Lincoln film. In fact, he thinks if anything it'll help.
- Wired takes a first look at the Zune HD, and talks about how Microsoft may have set the gadget up for failure by giving it a closed marketplace.
- The 5 most maddeningly unresolved TV plotlines. (Via)
- How about some unfortunate album covers? Beware, some are NSFW. I almost didn't bother looking at this link, as I thought it would be the same bunch of crazy album covers I've seen a million times on the internet, but the great majority of these were new to me. (Via)
- More details about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, that theme park Universal is building in Florida. And here's some concept art. I don't usually get all that excited about theme parks, but I'm dying to go to this one. I want to explore Hogwarts, and get a wand from Ollivander's!
- "A woman in China discovered a snake clinging to the wall of her bedroom with one clawed foot." Well, that's terrifying! She (wisely, in my opinion) reacted by beating it to death. In other weird dead-snake-related news, a pair of rampaging rabbits have been killing snakes in Australia (via).
- A gallery of video clips from Pandorum. The first two I'd already seen, but the others were new to me. I'm still intrigued by this movie, even if it doesn't look particularly inventive.
- Joss Whedon says writing has commenced on the Dr. Horrible sequel and he gives up some details on the next season of Dollhouse. Speaking of Dollhouse, here's an awesome piece of news (via): "Dollhouse has tapped spooky-cool Ray Wise to join the cast in the potentially recurring role of Howard, an intelligent higher-up in the Dollhouse who has huge presence and humor."
- A fan-made Mushroom Kingdom map for Left 4 Dead.
- That crazy astrophysicist you see on TV all the time, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, managed to convince James Cameron to digitally alter the night sky in a scene in Titanic so the positions of the stars would be historically and geographically accurate.
- Despite the fact that the Spider-Man musical might not even happen, tickets will go on sale on October 31st. It's kind of like buying a lottery ticket!
- Seven things you need to do to prepare for Fringe season two. Okay, I'm on it!
- Sci Fi Wire pumps J.J. Abrams for info about his various projects, including Fringe and Star Trek 2. Really he doesn't have much new to offer, but there are a few vaguely interesting tidbits in there. Meanwhile, the screenwriters of Star Trek 2 say it will be an allegory focusing on modern day issues.
- Check out a brilliant fan-made trailer for Raiders of the Lost Ark, reimagined as an all-star Hollywood release from 1951.
- Cool video of Weta's Greg Broadmore showing off his steampunk rayguns. I want one!
- Agent Provocateur is coming out with a line of lingerie inspired by comic books and sci-fi. Nerdy and sexy at the same time! (And also a bit NSFW.)
- Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth has been officially confirmed, and we'll see it some time in Q3 2009. So... now? There's also a release date for the DS game Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks - December 7.
- Garbage Pail Kid-style illustrations of a xenomorph, Frodo, and Shelob. Ah, Garbage Pail Kids. I have very fond memories of those cards.
- A really beautiful illustration of a young Chewbacca.
- Another really cool glow-in-the-dark T-shirt design.
- Steven Soderbergh has another project in the pipeline: an action film in the vein of La Femme Nikita called Knockout. Intriguing!
